Avatar: The Burning Earth

October 23, 2007

I got word that there’s a new Avatar video game out that seemed to slip under the radar undetected. It’s called “Avatar: The Burning Earth”, and really, it… doesn’t look too good. I’ll let you decide for yourself: here’s a video courtesy of GameTrailers.com.

Really, I’m not too impressed. The graphics could be a lot better, and the gameplay looks very “standard beat-em-up.” I am impressed they managed to get all the voice actors together; it seems we get to hear a little bit of the Mako’s replacement near the end. He’s not too bad, but I’m still skeptical.

Anyways, I might give it a rent, just to write up something solid, but it seems to be a game directed at its younger audience, much like the lastest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles games (based on the cartoon, not the film). Only time will tell, I suppose.

I remember there was an idea kicking around before of a free-form fighting game with bending involved; it would be awesome if they developed the ultimate “use your arena to your advantage” engine to go with it, no?

More often than not, these stories ended in tears and reassurance the status quo of 616 was meant to be. However, reading one of the issues, I was struck by items listed in the back, where they printed the most popular story suggestions from Marvel readers. Here are some of the most interesting (read: lulz worthy) :
