One thing I’ve noticed in the comic industry is how fast it can take for an up-and-coming writer to become an established name. Some notable names here are Geoff Johns, Brian K. Vaughan, and Ed Brubaker. Three years ago, I’d be writing about them, but it’s not three years ago. Geoff Johns is now a staple of DC Comics, writing the Sinestro Corps saga, JSA, and Booster Gold. Brian K. Vaughan hit it big with Runaways and Y: The Last Man and won his Eisner for best writer in ’05. Ed Brubaker went from being a crime fiction prodigy to being the man who killed Captain America. They’re all household names who were once promising newcomers. But now, I think I’ll write about today’s promising newcomers.
