Chapter 4 – New X-Men #44

Blessed are the children, Blessings and Joy shall be theirs
Theirs is a Dream of Hope,
That they shall not be the Last

Finally, after much waiting and speculation, Annihilation: Conquest has started. After the first Annihilation mini was a source of much awesome, it’s good to see that they’re going to keep the trend going. I got to take a look at the first issue, and I wasn’t disappointed. I’m debating whether to go into details of the issue, just because of the sheer amount of jaw-dropping moments encapsulated within. Ah, what the hell. Spoilers after the jump.

And lo, an Angel of fate did shine upon them, and they did fear.
“Fear not, for I bring good tidings of great joy which shall be to all mutantkind.”
For unto them, this day, a child is born…

Welcome to the world of the future, where men are men, women are women, and transistors are the height of technology.

Why, someday, we’ll even invent computers which only take up half a room!

October. It’s a special month. Of course, we all know that there’s Halloween on the 31st, but it’s special for another reason. October is National Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, and I thought that we should take a little time to remember that. I should tell you that domestic abuse is no laughing matter, but I think that we should take a little time out to remember one of its patron saints. Who, you ask? Why, I’m talking about the one and only Hank Pym.

It turned out to be an above average piece of work; pretty art, decent writing, and as a Halo fan it wet my appetite for more canon. HOWEVER (as there is always a however in rants) one thing continuously pissed me off and nearly ruined my reading experience.
ADVERTISEMENTS.

“PAD*? On She-Hulk?”
Yea, that was my reaction when I heard as well. We all know PAD is good, really good, but She-Hulk? Yea, well, it works. Seriously. Dude, I’m not messing with you. For real.

Conspiracy, Abnett and Kordey’s two-issue series from 1998, feels a lot like the neglected young sibling of Marvels and Ruins. Like those two books, it is a fully painted look back at the history of Marvel’s characters. While Marvels plays it straight and Ruins is the world’s most depressing What If?, Conspiracy imagines what a world including superheroes, giant monsters, and a spy agency as insanely powerful as SHIELD might really be like.
